R200 TV-out getting upstream (slowly)  
Alex Deucher who worked on the randr-1.2 support of the ATI DDX lately merged the gatos patches into the randr-1.2 branch. He stated the status in his mail:


Current status:
- only tested on rv350
- only 800x600 is supported at the moment
- only composite/s-video support (no component)
- no detection for tv-out yet. you'll have to force it on or edit radeon_detect()
- only chips with integrated tv-out are supported (no theater tv-out)
- only tested NTSC

Plans:
- add proper load detection
- add tv-out attributes to adjust the image
- add support for other modes


He posted instructions to use the tv-out later:

xrandr --addmode S-video 800x600
xrandr --output S-video --mode 800x600

rv370 and pal/secam too
TV-out works fine on my rv370 (Radeon X300 Mobility) too, with a PAL/SECAM TV.

It's supposed to happen after 6.7 is released.

For anyone googling around here, 6.7 has been cancelled and 6.8 will be released instead. 6.8 includes randr-1.2 and tv-out support. The most current pre-release is 6.7.193.

tirdc is there any chance that you can increase the size of preformatted text in your posts? They appear a bit small here. If not don't worry about it it - your entries are great! Please continue posting....
